One Tree Hill
Dominated by the distinctive One Tree Hill or Maungakiekie the suburb of One Tree Hill lies at its base. Cornwall Park was given to the City of Auckland by Sir John Logan Campbell and is enjoyed by many today; it is also home to the Auckland Observatory and Acacia Cottage, one of the earliest surviving timber buildings in New Zealand.
Many weatherboard villas and bungalows can be found in this area and the park always makes the suburb feel spacious. U2 wrote the song ‘One Tree Hill’ as a tribute to a band employee and the recent teenage television series also takes its name from here - a very famous area!
